Although most of the folks on this list didn't know him, you should all b=e
aware of the death on May 13 of John Wurdack, who is responsible for prov=iding
a large part of the written material available to this group.

John was a retired PhD from the Smithsonian Institution who still went to=his
old office on a daily basis. He and I became friends in the early '90's,
largely because of our mutual interest in arisaemas, and he sent me every=thing
that crossed his desk on the subject. The translations of the Chinese key=s and
the other material from China were as a result of his persuading Chinese
botanists visiting the Smithsonian to do them for him.

We all owe him a vote of thanks, and those of us who knew him will miss h=im

Jim McClements
