Subject: A. sikokianum

For newcomers to Arisaema, it might be nice to know how long one
has to wait when planting seed.

Looking back over the seed log, I see that the A. sikokianum sown in
1993 first bloomed in 1996, sown 1994 bloomed in 1997, and sown 1995
bloomed in 1998.
I conclude that, without forcing, A. sikokianum takes 3 years from sown
seed to
bloom.

Others have shown that at least one year can be saved by forcing a second
seasons
growth in each year. I have about 36 A. sikokianum from 1997 going
dormant after their
"second season growth". I'll give them a second cold store for 2 months
and plant
them out in June to see what happens.
