Ray, Sorry to hear that you did not fare well with the Kaichen plants.
I too have lost some of the order but for the most part doing okay with
the majority at the moment. I really didn't know what to do with all
of the plants as they arrived so late in the year. I ended up planting
some in the garden immediately, potted some up to start growing
immediately under lights in the basement, potted some to just hold over
until spring and put them in the unheated garage under remay and put
some in just "storage". Helleborus thibetanus was one I potted to hold
for spring growth. Nothing ever came up so I thought they were unhappy
about the move and then what I did with them as well as the fact that the
growing tips were a little slimy on arrival.. About a week ago thought
I would clean up some of the "dead pots". On knocking the soil out of
the pot, I found the Helleborus very much alive just sitting on hold.
Didn't test other pot as I thought it was better to not disturb it if it
is alive. I continue to water the pots and figure they will eventually
rot or grow. Thus the adventure still goes on with final results to be
determined. It was great fun and so far fairly successful for me so I
am going to add some more Kaichen additions this year.
