Hear Hear Ray.
Dare I mention Arisaema omeiense [that could it now seems be A. auriculatum].
This makes a long thin structure some 3-4mm wide that starts underground,
heads
for the soil surface approx 2 inches from the parent. There it makes a tiny
new tuber which is then left isolated when the generative structure that
connects it to the "parent" withers away.
I noticed this earlier this season when these little heads started poking up
around the plants, I may even have mentioned it here and may have posted a pic
at my web site. The picture is now gone I think. However the plant IS an
Arisaema and is as near to stoloniferous as makes no difference. The structure
is quite unlike the method by which erubescens and concinnum make underground
offsets. I still have the pic of that at
"http://rareplants.co.uk/arisaema/tubconc.jpg" {10K}
All best wishes from Wales, hope we are still here after the Boxing Day gales.
