No, neither NARGS nor HPS  can say the same.  I can't speak for HPS (only=a
member, not an officer), but for NARGS the dues pay for our Seed Exchange=of
6000 kinds, with a printed list sent to 4500 members, a top notch botanic=al
quarterly journal sent to those same 4500 members, a Speakers Tour which =brings
foreign speakers to the US chapters which could not afford to do so thems=elves,
a Bookstore with deep discounts on about any botanical book you might wan=t, a
slide library, an opportunity to borrow alpine books from the Philadelphi=a
Horticultural Library, three national meetings a year, local chapters wit=h
monthly meetings and periodic plant sales, and all of this for
25.00 per year.  Now there is a bargain.  Pat Bender
