Synchronicity

Has anyone else had trouble getting arisaemas back into sync with the
seasons after transporting them from the southern to northern hemispheres,
or vice versa? Eric Walton (New Zealand) sent me a couple of small A.
ringens tuber/corms in August of 1995. I promptly planted them, they came
up, and I put them in the cool greenhouse when frost became a danger
(October). In December, they went dormant. Great, I thought, they'll be
dormant for a couple of months, come up again, and will be on the right
schedule. I put them in the unheated garage.

Nope. They didn't come up until August. One of them went dormant again in
December, and when unpotted didn't look too happy-- sort of a mis-shapen
corm/tuber. The other one is still growing, green and happy, in the
greenhouse.

How do I get these things off of New Zealand Standard Time????
