It took me about two minutes of trying to count germination on Roy's seeds
to realize that this was *not* how I wanted to spend my evening, but I did
immediately notice something that had heretofore not registered: a large
number of the seed lots (almost all labeled "sp", but one "cf. yunnanense"
as well) are producing plants with more than one leaf - that is, in
addition to the first leaf, they're adding seconds and even thirds, some
of which are showing rudimentary leaflets. I've never seen this in seedling
arisaemas, but then my experience is less vast than some peoples' (maybe
in the 15+ species range?) so I am hardly an authority.
It does seem to me, though, that this is a distinctive enough trait that
someone might recognize it. Any thoughts? Are they trying to be
stoloniferous?
