Aw gee, shucks!
Ray et al,
The method referred to is not mine, but was originated by a man named John
Neumer, of Hockessin, Delaware in the mid 80's and published in the NARGS
Del. Valley Chapter newsletter. It was resurrected by Dee Peck, the current
editor, 2 years ago, and I tried it last year and was much impressed.
It basically involves creating a peat/sand "sandwich" over top of a thick
layer of leaves.
Ray, as you know, I wrote an update of this for your chapter newsletter last
fall. I have the portion that I wrote in electronic form, but not the
original article, which gives all the details of the method. If you can scan
it or get it in the proper format from Bobby Ward, I'd be happy to have it
posted on Arisaema-L. I'm sure we can work out the mechanics, but I'd just as
soon not to have to retype the original with my two-finger skills.
Incidentally, the only one up in our garden so far is A. undulatifolium, just
opening the spathe. (growing in one of the "peat sandwiches")
Jim
