I haven't had any in the ground for more than a year, but they certainly
do
well in pots. I put everything in the ground this spring, in full sun,
and
they loved it-- bloomed, set seed, etc. When I dug up some of the tubers
this fall they were over three inches in diameter, although the dwarf
version was only an inch and a half. They are fine wintering over in pots
in my garage that freeze solid.
I believe most of mine were from seed sown in late '91 or early '92.
