AEG'rs
I hope that I won't get booted out the AEG for this, but there seems to be a
big overlap of "trillium nuts" in any group of "arisaema nuts", so I thought
this might be of interest.
I've just received an advance copy of Don Jacobs' new trillium book,
"American Treasures, Trilliums in Woodland and Garden" and am truly
impressed. As any of you trillium enthusiasts probably know, there has been a
real need for such a publication, and now we are about to have two, Don's and
the one by Fred Case, due out in the next few weeks.
While I have yet to see Fred's book, I'm certain that he and Don will have
somewhat different approaches to the subject, and that anyone interested in
trilliums will want both. Don's is complete enough to satisfy most of us with
a special interest in the genus, and yet should appeal to a beginner, with
lots of basic information and excellent photos of practically all of the
species. There is perhaps an excess of "typos", but they are easy to ignore
in what is essentially a well-written and beautiful book.
Fred's book is being published by Timber Press and will be available through
the usual channels, while Don's is self-published (explaining the "typos"!)
and will be obtainable directly from him as well from a few organizations,
including the NARGS bookstore. (D.J.,PO Box 1227, Decatur, GA 30031, $30.00
Incl. postage in NA, probably extra for overseas).
I get no commission here, but am proud to say that Don did use a few of my
photos!
Now, what about that arisaema book? Guy?
