Is Carol's mystery species the one that is stoloniferous and runs all over
her back yard? I got a couple of tubers of this one from her, and found it
gets very confused when grown in a pot, running out to the side then
sending up a leaf. I think we speculated at one time that it might be A.
concinnum.

I second your observation of thunbergii urashima-- it took two years to
come up for me, too.
