Seed viability

While sorting through some seeds today I came across some A. triphyllum
that are probably from the summer of '96. After cleaning the dried
fleshy part off the first 100 or so seeds, the thought struck me that I
may be wasting my time. Are these better planted fresh or will the seed
survive over a number of years?
Also, am I correct in my understanding that, A. triphyllum do not
require any cold period? Would a further rest in moist soil in the
fridge do any harm? I would rather hold off until spring is a little
closer as I am already overrun under the lights with Lily and Rose
seedlings.
Thank You
