I certainly do thank all the respondents to my question about osmocote.  This
is a perfect example of how valuable a group like this can be, and I hope
others have learned as much as I have.

As I think I've mentioned previously, I've been growing my Arisaema seedlings
for their first cycle in pure turface, kept wet in standing water. Once the
seedlings appear, the pot is transferred to a flat in which a very dilute
all-purpose fertilizer is added to the water. This has worked very well, with
no evidence of harm to the seedlings. I've just started trying the same
approach with the second cycle, using either turface or grit. One pot is up
and looks good so far, but it's too early to tell how this will work.
